SETA acts as the training department for many of its member companies and offers a full service from initial assessment and recruitment through to completion and qualification of modern apprentices and other employees.

Modern Apprenticeships in Technical Operations

There are two levels of modern apprenticeships available, a Foundation and an Advance Level. The structure of training is shown below.


The Standard set by the awarding bodies (such as EMTA, OCR, ECITB etc.) are followed and once met by the apprentice and competence is confirmed, then certification is issued.

Modern apprenticeships are normally of four years duration for an Advanced Level and 18 months for Foundation Level

the types of occupation available are:


Manufacturing from electrical & electronic to mechanical and fabrication products

Maintenance service, repair and installation of electrical, mechanical, electronic and process control systems

Design technological design for the manufacturing of machinery and equipment

Business Administration Support services to companies


SETA staff are involved throughout the entire apprenticeship period to ensure that the individual reaches the required levels of competence in their job role.
Local colleges of further education provide the theoretical aspects of the modern apprenticeship through day release which is also monitored by SETA.
