On Friday 13th April, a very cold afternoon at Woodley Sports Stadium, Lambeth Road, Stockport, SETA FC took on Stockport County Community charity team and played out a very entertaining charity match in aid of local charity ‘When You Wish Upon A Star’ Dream making for sick and terminally ill children.
Against a much more experienced 11 the SETA apprentices ran out 4-3 winners with man of the match Matt Daniels scoring a hat trick and Michael Graham netting the winner.
The young SETA side showed tremendous ability all over the pitch Asa Bottomley and Rhys Walker both had a stint in nets and both made some excellent stops.
The midfield was controlled by Charley Wray and Tom Swindell while out wide Nathaniel Oldfield and Joe McDonald provided plenty of crosses.
Arran Wallace, Matt Gill, Ollie Ashton, Lois Rosslyn, Richard Penney, Harrison Leary & Michael Collins provided much needed support to the team whilst team mascot/chief orange slicer Emily Curry kept the teams refreshed at half time.
At the back Kyle Dooley and Jamie Marland had the better of Stockports attack.Referee Trevor Massey brought the game to an end and Tom Swindell lifted the trophy to the applause of the crowd.
The trophy has now been returned home to SETA, we couldn’t be happier!
With much appreciation to Simon Dawson of Stockport County FC for organising the Stockport County team and much thanks to the players of Stockport County community charity team for a most enjoyable game!
Thank you again to all of our companies who continue to support our charitable ventures again and again!
