Employer Information
SETA (Stockport Engineering Training Association) has been helping employers recruit and train young people into technical roles since 1966. Our training and the qualifications that people achieve has provided the foundation of a skilled workforce across a variety of technical roles. We train apprentices in Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance, Precision Production Engineering (Machining), and Welding and Fabrication. Our technical centre offers a wide range of options.
SETA can offer:-

Recruitment and Aptitude Testing to help with your interviewing and selection of apprentices.

Consultation with the employer to develop an appropriate training route for the apprentice.

Block release at SETA to complete NVQ 2 and also develop technical skills required by the employer.

Funding towards day release at college to complete an appropriate technical certificate.
-
Funding towards the NVQ 2 and NVQ 3 apprenticeship qualifications.

Work based training and assessment with the help of SETA assessors to complete the agreed NVQ3.

Consultation with employer on apprentice training progress.
The Qualifications
NVQ 2 Performing Engineering Operations: based around Electrical, Production, Fabrication, Welding and Maintenance Skills.
BTEC National / City & Guilds.
NVQ 3 based around apprentice work rate technical area:- e.g. Maintenance,Fabrication.

How long does it take?
3 ½ - 4 years
Framework Requirements
NVQ 2
September to March at SETA block training.
Further specialisation available upon completion.
Technical Certificate 2/3 years (Day release)
NVQ 3
Approximately 3 years to develop skills competence, dependent upon technical role.
Work based assessment.
The Costs
All apprentices are employed and paid above national insurance threshold.
SETA will consult with you to indicate any training and assessment costs according to the level of government funding. A large part of the costs of the qualifications are met through our contract with government funding agencies.

The aim of apprenticeships is to help you invest in skilled and qualified technical personnel who grow and understand your engineering skills base. Apprenticeships help you tackle long term skills shortages and improve the technical capacity within your business. SETA support your work force development and skills improvement objectives.
