WHAT ARE APPRENTICESHIPS? Apprenticeships are nationally recognised work based learning programmes specifically designed to meet the requirements of different occupations. Apprenticeships are available in all occupational areas e.g. Administration, Engineering, Motor Vehicle etc. APPRENTICESHIP LEVELS There are three levels of apprenticeship: Young Apprenticeship - aimed at 14-16 year olds - duration two years leading to Level 2 NVQ Apprenticeship - duration approximately 24 months, qualification Level NVQ 23 suitable for non-complex jobs Advanced Apprenticeship - duration approximately 42 months, qualification levels NVQ 2 and NVQ 3 suitable for more complex jobs. NATIONAL VOCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS What are they and what levels are available: National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ’s) are a set of work-based competencies which recognises an individual’s ability to carry out a particular job to national standards. NVQ’s are vocational awards that are achieved through a combination of training and assessment. INITIAL ASSESSMENT

To enter an apprenticeship you will be required to undergo an initial assessment. This consists of the following components:
- Application Form
- Aptitude Assessment – verbal, numerical and perception and mechanical comprehension
- Interview (SETA Staff)
- Company Interview
