On Friday 12th December 2014 we successfully hosted our third annual Santa Dash. The event was in aid of SETA’s partner charity ‘When you wish upon a Star’ which raises money for terminally ill children in the UK.

All staff and apprentices were a little cold and soggy from the rain/snow as they arrived at Woodbank Park for the Santa Dash 2014, but happily it stopped raining for the run. We were greeted by Stockport Cerebral Palsy Society and members from the Seashell Trust who were using the classroom and were a little excited to see so many dashing Santas. It was also fantastic to see so many of our apprentices companies there to support their runners. SETA-Charity-Santa-Dash

After posing for pictures with our new friends, our Chief Executive Russell Prince started the Dash and as expected, the favourite Chris Martin from Davenport,  got off to a flying start. Throughout the 2 mile dash there were bits of Santa falling from eager runners, which were picked up valiantly by Lisa – so we excuse her for her terrible time!

A special thought went out to all our very brave tutors and staff who stood vigilantly at check points, wet, cold and shivering but making sure all our apprentices got round safely – and did all their laps. Chris Martin (SETA canteen manager…….A.K.A. BOLT) crossed the finish line after only 12 minutes 17 seconds, closely followed by Kelton Lockhart (apprentice from Boulting Group) and 3rd place went to Joe Higgins (apprentice from Park Engineering) then it was all back to the lodge for drinks and biscuits while they waited for the rest of the party to join them for the presentation.
We’re absolutely amazed by the efforts of all our apprentices and everyone involved this year, a big thank you to all of the companies who have made individual donations, and everyone who has sponsored our apprentices, so far after only 5 days we have collected in more than £1000.

Anyone else wishing to make donations please contact Debbie in accounts at dcoram@setatraining.com or call 0161 480 9822.
