If you use abrasive wheels, you should be aware of the relevant Regulations which not only lay down safety rules concerning the wheels but also provide standards for those who mount, dress or otherwise maintain abrasive wheels.
No person shall mount any abrasive wheels unless he/she:
has been trained in accordance with the relevant Regulations is competent to carry out that duty has been appointed by the employer and entered in the Company’s Abrasive Wheels Register
The legal implications of these important Regulations are significant.The course is designed to cover the statutory requirements which are mandatory for both employer and employee.
The course is designed for:
- Personnel responsible for departments in which abrasive wheels are used Persons who, in the course of their employment, carry out duties to which the Regulations refer.
OBJECTIVE:
The course is designed to cover the statutory training requirements of PUWER 98. On completion of the course, attendees will be able to mount, dress, balance and identify correctly/incorrectly fitted abrasive wheels.
- Training requirements for the safe use of abrasive wheels
- Truing, dressing and balancing abrasive wheels
- Changing abrasive wheels
- Wheel handling and storage
- Hazards associated with abrasive wheels
- Relevant requirements of PUWER 1998 and PPE Regulations 1992
- Course test and assessment
