Promote the safe use of your PUWER Assessment Checklist
This two-day classroom course is designed to promote the safe use of your company’s PUWER Assessment Checklist under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998.
Delegates receive classroom-based instruction covering the relevant elements of legislation and are led by the facilitator towards a common, clear understanding of the requirements, aligned with the policies and procedures their company has in place.

The course is intended for personnel responsible for PUWER in their workplace and for people who, in the course of their employment, carry out duties to which the regulations refer.
Course content
What the course covers
01
PUWER and work equipment
Delegate introduction and general discussion relating to PUWER and the different types of work equipment.

Legal standards and duties
The requirements of legal standards within PUWER, including Absolute, Practicable and Reasonably Practicable Duties, plus a brief overview of the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and their general requirements.

Safeguarding and PUWER requirements
Regulations 11 and 12 of PUWER on safeguarding dangerous machinery, together with the general requirements of PUWER Parts 2 and 3.

Hazard identification and documentation
Group hazard-identification work using slides showing a variety of work equipment, followed by an introduction to your company’s documentation.
05
PUWER assessment practice
Individual delegates complete a PUWER assessment form, either at SETA or on site, then continue in groups with feedback and general discussion.
06
Exam, feedback and course review
Feedback and general discussion, the PUWER multi-choice exam, and a final course review and discussion.

Certification
Successful completion of the course will result in the issue of a SETA certificate of completion.
Payment
Payment is taken when the course booking is confirmed. Invoice payments must be made within 30 days or before the course starts, whichever is sooner. All course fees are subject to VAT.
