Practical workplace training skills for people who train others

This course is designed for people who are required to train others as part of their role. It provides the knowledge, understanding and practical skills needed to plan, deliver and evaluate effective training in a wide range of workplace and vocational settings, including shopfloor and operational environments.

The course is interactive and practical, using discussions, activities, reflection, practical planning exercises and observed delivery. On successful completion, learners will have the confidence and competence to train others effectively, use key strategies such as “the 5 golden rules”, understand their responsibilities as a trainer, and apply inclusive, engaging training methods in real operational environments.

What the course covers

Roles, Responsibilities and Professional Practice

Explore the role of the trainer, including legal and ethical responsibilities, professional boundaries, duty of care and maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment. Topics include health and safety, equality and diversity, safeguarding, data protection, and working effectively with other professionals and support services.

Inclusive Teaching and Learning Practice

Focus on how people learn and how training can be adapted to different learner needs. The unit covers inclusive approaches, learning styles and theories, planning effective sessions, demonstrations, discussions, group work and practical activities, plus evaluating training and improving future delivery.

Practical Delivery Skills (Microteach)

Plan and deliver a short training session on a topic from your own specialist area. The session is observed and assessed, with constructive feedback on delivery style, communication, use of visual aids and time management to build confidence in applying the skills at work.

How the Course Is Delivered

The course is interactive and practical. It includes discussions, activities, reflection, practical planning exercises and observed delivery. The approach models good training practice and is directly relevant to real workplace training situations

Assessment

Assessment is completed through short interactive and written tasks within the course and a practical observed training session. There are no formal exams.

Certificate

Successful completion of the course assessment will result in the issue of a SETA certificate.

Payment

Payment is taken when the course booking is confirmed. Invoice payments must be made within 30 days or before the course starts, whichever is sooner. All course fees are subject to VAT.
