On Wednesday 10th November an auction was held at the Stockport County grounds for the amazing frogs that were part of the Stockport Frog Trail.
Our Awarding Organisations Manager Margaret Wright was extra interested in Lot 13 as the frog named “Joy” was created by her husband, local Artist and Sculpter Chris Wright.
The lot managed to raise a fantastic £2,600 for this years chosen charity, St Annes Hospice.
The inspiration for the frog came from the ‘Unknown Pleasures’ album artwork by Joy Division. The yellow and black colouring was inspired by colours from Manchester’s nightclub ‘The Haciencda’ and the Hat from the frog is a true representaion of a Ghanaian weave fabric design.
Chris’ sculptures have previously been displayed in Stockport Art Gallery and he was thrilled to be be asked to take part in this venture by the sponsor Totally Stockport.
