Tuesday 23RD JUNE
Last year we ran a very successful event for girls to do activities to raise their awareness and interest and possible career choice in the engineering sector.
This year in partnership and initiative with Jacobs Engineering Cheadle we will run similar morning and afternoon events for girls from Stockport schools and 6th forms.
Sarah Chadwick, SETA Engineering Apprentice, employed by Jacobs Engineering, has won The Apprentice of the Year Award in 2014 and is now an Apprenticeship Ambassador:
“I completed my AS Levels at Aquinas College, before deciding that the engineering apprenticeship route was the right route for me – this has been the best career decision I have ever made!”
If you are not sure which apprenticeship route is for you, get in touch – each year we interview almost 200 potential apprentices and help successful candidates secure the jobs in engineering sector. We are now recruiting for September 2015 intake in Manchester, Stockport and Tameside areas. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org, to start your own career in engineering!
About the day:
National Women in Engineering Day was set up by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) to celebrate its 95th anniversary.
The aim is to celebrate the work that women do in engineering, and to showcase the great engineering careers that are available for girls.
We are calling on all groups (Governmental, educational, corporate, Professional Engineering Institutions, individuals and other organisations) to organise their own events in support of the day, and link them together for maximum impact through the use of the NWED logo, corresponding website, supporting resources and twitter @nwed2015 #nwed.
