PLEASE NOTE: COURSES CURRENTLY OPEN FOR SEPTEMBER 2019 INTAKE ARE HNC and HND in General Engineering.
This Semptember SETA will be delivering the Higher National Certificate at its centre in Stockport. The newly developed facility is bespoke to the HNC delivery.
The course fees will include external guest lecturers, residential visits, all registration and certification costs and lunchtime refreshments on day of attendance. The higher education experience will be supported by experienced and dedicated delivery and support staff.
This programme offers a chance to study and develop a broad range of skills such as report writing, communication and teamwork skills. These skills and the mandatory and specialist units studied will provide you with the knowledge and expertise to work successfully as a mechanical engineer. The unit’s studies are:
Analytical Methods for Engineers
Project Design, Implementation and Evaluation
Health, Safety and Risk Assessment in Engineering
Business Management Techniques for Engineers
SETA will recruit to this programme with integrity. It will ensure applicants have the prior qualification and/or experience, considering whether this profile shows that the applicants have the potential to achieve the qualification.
Typical entry qualifications are:
National Certificate or Diploma in Engineering,
Advanced Diploma in Engineering
2 A level passes in relevant subject.
An interview will be carried out prior to acceptance onto the programme to establish suitability for entry. Experience will be taken into account for mature applicants.
Assessment can be by the use of assignments, projects, presentations, time controlled assignments. All the above will provide evidence against the published learning outcomes and assessment criteria which will be discussed in detail with the delivery team where explanation will be provided.
Progression To Higher National Diploma or Degree in Engineering.
The BTEC Higher Nationals have been developed with career progression and recognition by professional bodies in mind. SETA is accredited by the Institute of Mechanical Engineering
