Objective:
To promote the safe use of your companies PUWER Assessment Checklist (The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998).

The delegates receive classroom-based instruction covering the relevant elements of legislation. Delegates will be led by the facilitator to a common and clear understanding of the requirements of the legislation that is in line with the policies and procedures the company has in place.

Who will benefit from this course?
Personnel responsible for PUWER in their workplace. Persons who, in the course of their employment, carry out duties to which the regulations refer.

Pre-course requirements:
Delegates should have a background in engineering and be familiar with the types of equipment in their work areas.

Duration & Assessment:
This is a 2-day course including assessment.

Certification:
Successful completion of the course will result in the issue of a SETA certificate of completion.

 

COURSE PROGRAMME

• Delegate Introduction
• General Discussion relating to PUWER and the different types of work equipment.
• Legal standards – The requirements of the legal standards within PUWER i.e. Absolute,
• Practicable and Reasonably Practicable Duties.
• Regulation 11 and 12 of PUWER (safeguarding of dangerous machinery).
• Group Work – Hazard Identification (Slides showing a variety of work equipment will be
  used)
• General requirements of PUWER (parts 2 and 3)
• Brief overview of the Management of Health & Safety Work Regulations 1999 – General
• Requirements
• Introduction to your companies documentation
• Individual delegates carry out a PUWER assessment completing PUWER assessment form
  (either at SETA or on site)
• Continuation of delegates in groups completing PUWER assessment form including
  feedback and general discussion
• Feedback and general discussion
• PUWER multi-choice exam
• Course Review and Discussion
