Aim:
This course is designed for people who are required to train others as part of their role.
It provides the knowledge, understanding and practical skills needed to plan, deliver and evaluate effective training in a wide range of workplace and vocational settings, including shopfloor and operational environments.

Who will benefit from this course?
The course is suitable for subject matter experts, supervisors, team leaders, engineers, technicians and managers who need to pass on knowledge and skills to others, rather than deliver traditional classroom-based teaching.

How the Course Is Delivered
The course is interactive and practical. It includes discussions, activities, reflection, practical planning exercises and observed delivery. The approach models good training practice and is directly relevant to real workplace training situations.

Assessment
Assessment is completed through short interactive and written tasks within the course and a practical observed training session. There are no formal exams.

What Learners Will Gain
On successful completion, learners will have the confidence and competence to train others effectively, using key strategies such as “the 5 golden rules” understand their responsibilities as a trainer, and apply inclusive, engaging training methods that can work in real operational environments.

 

COURSE PROGRAMME

Unit 1: Roles, Responsibilities and Professional Practice
Participants will explore the role of the trainer, including legal and ethical responsibilities, maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment, and understanding professional boundaries. The unit covers health and safety, equality and diversity, safeguarding, data protection, and how trainers work effectively with other professionals and support services. There is a strong focus on duty of care and creating positive learning environments.

Unit 2: Inclusive Teaching and Learning Practice
This unit focuses on how people learn and how training can be adapted to meet different learner needs. Participants will look at inclusive learning approaches, learning styles and learning theories, planning effective training sessions, and using a range of delivery methods such as demonstrations, discussions, group work and practical activities. The unit also covers how to
evaluate training sessions and improve future delivery.

Practical Delivery Skills (Microteach)
Participants will plan and deliver a short training session on a topic from their own specialist area.
This is observed and assessed, with constructive feedback provided on delivery style, communication, use of visual aids and time management. This ensures learners leave the course with confidence in applying their skills in the workplace.
