We are pleased to announce that one of SETA apprentices, Peter Whitehead received 3rd Certificate in Juniors category for his Apprentice Test Pieces, which was a collection of different methods of joining metals together.

Peter Whitehead is training as Mechanical Maintenance & Welding Apprentice at SETA and he is employed by CEMEX, Buxton.

Peter requested Thursday and Friday off earlier this year to attend Harrogate Model Engineering Exhibition and came back with a 3rd prize, which is a remarkable achievement for a young person.

Peter Whitehead success was mentioned in September issue of Engineering in Miniature, in the column by John Arrowsmith, and his pieces were also pictured in the magazine. (See photo)

Peter also won Mechanical Maintenance Section Award earlier this year during SETA Annual Awards and was named Fundraiser of the year for his involvement in the various charity events. A total of £2500 was raised by apprentices in 2014/15  for SETA’s partner charity When you Wish upon a Star, and Peter have raised the most of all the apprentices.

Here at SETA, we couldn’t be more proud of his achievements and you can read more about how he decided to become an engineering apprentice here.
