This year’s Open Day was a resounding success with over 200 potential Apprentices visiting our Learning and Skills Academy in Stockport.

The event was supported by many of the employers who use SETA for training their Apprentices, and two new large employers from Trafford Park, who are considering using SETA for their next Apprenticeship intake.

SETA currently offers, BTEC ONC courses in both Mechanical and Electrical/Electronic pathways, and from September 2016, we will also be offering BTEC HNC in both Mechanical and Electrical/Electronic pathways. This is proving to be a success with both Learners and Employers.

After attending SETA’s Apprentice Recruitment Open Day on 16th March we feel it was a very well attended event where we were able to speak to and answer questions from potential future apprentice applicants / parents to inform them of the excellent opportunities on offer from McVities Manchester. This is already proving to be a very productive event as I started to receive applications the following morning. This event is something I will be adding to my calendar for future years as part of our Engineering Apprentice recruitment process. Andy Harris, Engineering Trainer, McVities Manchester

Stockport Engineering Training Association (SETA)’s Open Day, as part of National Apprenticeship Week 14-18 March 2016, provided opportunity for young people to find out more about engineering apprenticeships, meet potential employers and enquire about current vacancies. The Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport, Councillor Andrew Verdeille and Mrs Cleo Cundall had toured the SETA Training Centre during the Open Day and offered words of encouragement to learners and visitors.

SETA is one of the leading Engineering Apprenticeship providers in the North West and has been helping young people start their engineering careers since 1966. Each year SETA trains around 80 young people to become engineers and on SETA’s Open Day you could meet with current apprentices from Manchester Airport Group, Jacobs Engineering and Northern Rail, to name the few companies of this extremely varied sector.

The Open Day was held at SETA Learning and Skills Academy on 16th March 2016, from 9am until 8pm.
