Our Open Day was a success yesterday with over 50 keen young people attending and a few young women which was great to see! Local Councillors attended and supported the event along with MPS and employers.

A number of SETA apprentices helped out at the event and enjoyed telling young people about their experiences and showing them around the training centre in Reddish.

Beth Appleby at SETA is keen to get more girls involved in engineering. She expressed that  “I really enjoyed taking visitors around the centre. I am really pleased I chose to undertake an engineering apprenticeship as I am enjoying the varied training and am in full time paid employment with Jacobs whilst being  trained- we need to see more girls in engineering!”

Jordan Dixie, Engineering Apprentice, Monopumps, stated it was an “exciting event and good to show people our prestigious training facilities. I enjoyed telling people about the benefits of engineering and sharing my experiences with teenagers”…   “There are so many perks to engineering; it would be great so see more youngsters getting involved in apprenticeships”.
