How to start your career in engineering with an Apprenticeship – and get paid to train.

Budding local engineers are being offered an insight into an exciting future engineering career as their local SETA Learning & Skills Academy opens its doors for would-be apprentices to find out more.

SETA’s Apprenticeships Open Day is on Wednesday 16th of March from 9am – 8pm and will be held at SETA Learning & Skills Academy in South Reddish, Stockport.

Stockport Engineering Training Association (SETA)’s Open Day, as part of National Apprenticeship Week 14-18 March 2016, gives opportunity for young people to find out more about engineering apprenticeships and current vacancies, ask current apprentices about their experience and meet potential employers.

SETA is one of the leading Engineering Apprenticeship providers in the North West and has been helping young people start their engineering careers since 1966. Each year SETA trains around 80 young people to become engineers and on SETA’s Open Day you could meet with current apprentices from Manchester Airport Group, Jacobs Engineering and Northern Rail, to name the few companies of this extremely varied sector.

Ian Burns, SETA’s Learning and Skills Academy Manager said: “We expect there to be a lot of interest in engineering apprentice programmes so I would encourage anyone interested in applying to come to the open day to find out more and ask any questions they might have.”

In the current climate, an engineering apprenticeship offers a real alternative to going to university – training is usually fully funded and as all apprentices are in full employment, they receive wage and paid holidays. SETA is also now offering Higher Apprenticeships, which allow participants to earn a wage while studying towards a degree-level qualification.

During the event apprentices and ex-apprentices will be on hand to answer any questions. Visitors will be also be able to tour training facilities of the Academy. Parents are extremely welcome and encouraged to find out more about where an engineering apprenticeship can lead.

The Open Day will be held at SETA Learning and Skills Academy on 16th March 2016, from 9am until 8pm:
