Understand safer manual handling at work

The Manual Handling Operations Training Course is a one-day classroom course designed to ensure those responsible for manual handling understand their legal duties under the Manual Handling Regulations.

Learners cover harmful manual handling, common manual handling injuries, risk assessment, safe systems of work, mechanical aids and good handling techniques using the Kinetic Lifting Method relative to the job or task being carried out.

General aims and objectives, together with the duties of the employer and the employee under the Manual Handling Regulations.

Recognising harmful manual handling

How to recognise harmful manual handling and understand the different types of manual handling injuries.

Lever principle and mechanical aids

The Lever Principle, the need for mechanical aids and how mechanical aids can support safer manual handling.

Manual handling risk assessment

A scenario-based manual handling risk assessment task, with focus on understanding the risk assessment process.

Safe systems and handling techniques

Appropriate safe systems of work and good handling techniques using the Kinetic Lifting Method relative to the job or task being carried out.

Think Back video and quiz

The “Think Back” video and quiz included in the course programme.

Certification

Successful completion of the course test and assessment will result in the issue of a SETA certificate.

Payment and resits

Payment is taken when the course booking is confirmed. Invoice payments must be made within 30 days or before the course starts, whichever is sooner. Examination resits incur an additional fee. All course fees are subject to VAT.
