Manual handling risk assessment using HSE tools
Prevention and control of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) is a major priority globally, and manual handling is one of the main causes of musculoskeletal disorders. This qualification provides the knowledge and tools required to identify manual handling risks and prioritise controls to protect workers.
Learners explore why reducing manual handling risk matters, how manual handling risks can result in injury, and how to use HSE tools to assess, interpret, categorise and communicate risk. Course information
Requirements, assessment and certification
Pre-course requirements
No formal previous health and safety knowledge is required. NEBOSH recommends learners have an underpinning knowledge of health and safety issues. An English language skill level equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or higher is recommended for learners whose first language is not English, but the source states this is not mandatory. Learning is guided and supported by a class tutor.
Assessment
A practical assessment is completed at the end of the course. After watching a video of a workplace scenario, learners complete a manual handling risk assessment using the HSE tools and templates covered during their studies.
Certification
Successful completion of the assessment will result in the issue of a NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Manual Handling Risk Assessment certificate.
