Fire safety and workplace fire risk assessment
This course is for people with fire safety responsibilities at work, particularly those who contribute to, conduct or review fire risk assessments. It is designed to enable learners to identify preventative and protective measures within low and medium fire risk workplaces.
This is a standalone qualification; no other unit qualification is required. It is divided into two units, FSC1 and FSC2, which are assessed separately. The course also includes 20 hours of suggested self-study time in addition to the five classroom days and the 1 day open book examination.

Course information
Requirements, assessments and certification
Pre-course requirements
No previous health and safety knowledge is required, although it is advisable that candidates have an understanding of the basic practical aspects of Health & Safety. NEBOSH suggests that those taking these qualifications should have a minimum English proficiency level equivalent to an IELTS score of 6.0 or higher. Classroom-based learners need to attend classes and assessments on the dates and times shown on the course timetable, with learning guided and supported by a class tutor.
Assessments
The qualification is divided into two units, each assessed separately. Unit FSC1 is a 24-hour Open Book Examination. Unit FSC2 is a practical assessment involving a fire risk assessment carried out in your workplace, or another workplace, and submitted by email to SETA. This is a 5 day classroom based course with 1 day for the FSC1 OBE Exam combined with suggested 20 hours self study time.
Certification
The qualification is the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety (FSC1+FSC2). Holders of the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety are entitled to Associate Membership (AIOSH) of IOSH. The qualification also meets the academic requirements for technician status within the Institute of Fire Prevention Officers (IFPO) and practical experience may give associate membership of the same.

Payment and resits
Payment is taken when the course booking is confirmed. Invoice payments must be made within 30 days or before the course starts, whichever is sooner. All payments must be received by the course start date. Examination resits incur an additional fee. All course fees are subject to the current rate of VAT, subject to valid exemptions.
